The second of two beams (13,14) is movable to clamp the ends of several strips between the beams. To prevent certain strips sliding away from the grip, the movable beam has a number of spring-loaded claw pieces (16) on its side facing the fixed beam (13). These pieces press the strips against the fixed beam, and at the same time permit small variations in thickness between the strips. The claw pieces (16) can be movable in holes which are aligned.
