PURPOSE:To increase the covering power of an emulsion by incorporating a specified cross-linked polymer into at least one silver halide emulsion layer. CONSTITUTION:A cross-linked polymer represented by the formula and dispersible in water or an org. solvent is incorporated into at least one silver halide emulsion layer of a photosensitive silver halide material. In the formula, A is a monomeric unit obtd. by copolymerizing a copolymerizable ethylenic unsatd. monomer, B is a monomeric unit obtd. by copolymerizing a copolymerizable and cross-linkable monomer having at least two copolymerizable ethylenic unsatd. groups, M<+> is a cation, w=10-95mol%, x=3-88mol%, y=0-50mol%, and z=2-30mol%. The covering power of the silver halide emulsion is increased, the adhesion between the constituent layers of the photosensitive silver halide material is improved, and a photosensitive silver halide material having high film strength and taking hardly scratches is obtd. |
