PURPOSE:To prevent any damage and a machining affected layer from occurring as well as to machine a microform whose side is mirror-finished, by machining a work with a rotary tool and a machining solution inclusive of minute particles. CONSTITUTION:A work 1 consists of a hand, fragile material of glass, crystalline material, ceramics, etc., while a rotary tool 7 uses a highly hardened material such as sapphire, ceramics, etc., in order to withstand abrasion resistance and machining force. A machining solution 10 is one being mixed water with a minute particles including SiO2, Al2O3, ZrO2 and the like of 1mum or less in diameter. A machining mechanism is as follows: the machining solution 10 is accelerated in a direction of rotation on the circumference of the rotary tool 7 whereby a part of the solution enters a clearance and presses the rotary tool 7 to the work 1 which is forcibly machined. According to this method, although a machining surface state is not so good but this is usable for improvement in machining efficiency, and the other part of the solution is also accelerated and the accelerated minute particles collide with a work surface, that is, a noncontact machining way attending on minute destruction, which is available for removing a machining affected layer after the said forced machining and for mirror-finishing. |
