PURPOSE:To retard gas evolution and prevent performance deterioration of a battery by using a current collector comprising lead alone or mainly comprising lead in an alkaline battery whose negative electrode is zinc. CONSTITUTION:In an alkaline battery using zinc or zinc alloy as a negative electrode, a current collector comprising lead alone, mainly comprising lead is used. In this alkaline battery, even if low amalgamated or no amalgamated zinc is used, gas evolution in the battery is retarded without amalgamating the current collector. Therefore, from a standpoint of environmental pollution prevention, this invention has large industrial value. |
