PURPOSE:To enable color printing speed to be enhanced, by using a multicolor ink ribbon provided with a plurality of printing color bands, and a printing head capable of printing in a forward stroke and a reverse stroke at different printing positions relative to the ink ribbon. CONSTITUTION:The multicolor ink ribbon 25 is constituted of a plurality of printing color bands 25a-25c provided respectively with color inks in the order of value, and the printing head 19 moved to different printing positions in a forward stroke and in a reverse stroke is provided with dot arrays 19a-19c the number of which is equal to the number of the color bands 25a-25c. The ribbon 25 is guided to a forward-stroke printing position and a reverse-stroke printing position by a ribbon guide member 27, and in each of the two printing positions, the dot arrays 19a-19c are guided to face the printing color bands in the order of from the band 25a with the highest value toward them band 25c with the lowest value as viewed in the moving direction of the head 19. Accordingly, printing data can be printed in desired colors through subtractive color mixture in the decreasing order of color value, as the head 19 is moved. |
