A non-woven fabric composed of binder-consolidated fibres or filaments which is suitable for use as support for built-up roofing membranes which are resistant to jump fire and radiative heat is obtained by incorporating particulate solids which are resistant to heat and fire and whose dimensions are small compared with the effective mesh size of the non-woven layer. This size discrepancy ensures deep penetration of the non-woven fabric by the particles, which results in a more or less pronounced density gradient of the particulate solids across the thickness of the non-woven layer.
