MEMBRANE SEPARATION TREATMENT OF SOLUTION CONTAINING NONELECTROLYTE

PURPOSE:To increase the permeating velocity of semipermeable membrane by using a sulfonated aromatic polysulfone semipermeable membrane treated with an aq. soln. of alkali metallic salt and thereby subjecting an aq. soln. contg. nonelectrolyte to membrane separation treatment. CONSTITUTION:In case of treating a soln. contg. nonelectrolyte such as ethylene glycol, triethylene glycol and polyethlene glycol, the semipermeable membrane consisting of the sulfonated aromatic polysulfone polymer is pretreated with an aq. soln. of alkali metallic salt such as KCl, NaCl and KNO3. The soln. contg. the nonelectrolyte is subjected to membrane separation treatment by using the semipermeable membrane.
