PURPOSE:To detect magnitude of knocking level of an engine accurately by detecting engine vibration by a knock sensor and making a criterion for decision by averaging the output. CONSTITUTION:The knock sensor 30 is provided to the flank of the engine to detect the engine vibration. Further, a rotation angle sensor 31 for detecting the rotation angle of a crankshaft is provided. Then, the output of the knock sensor 30 is inputted to a knocking reference level setting means 32 to subject to a smoothing process and set the reference level for knocking decision. Then, the output is inputted to an averaging means 33 to average the plural knocking criterion levels for each prescribed rotation angle of the engine. Then, the output is inputted to a comparing and deciding means 34 to detect the knocking by comparing the output of the knock sensor 30 with the output of the averaging means 33. Consequently, since the knocking criterion level is averaged and made actual reference level, the knocking can be detected certainly. |
