Finned tube heat exchanger bundles, esp. for refrigeration applications, are assembled using the elasticity of elliptical tubes, the larger dia. of which gives sufficiently for acute angled fin bundle sides to be pressed in between such tubes to ensure flush fitting matel to metal contact. Fin height runs across the originally elliptical tube exis, the smaller ellipsis dia. giving a semi-circular circumference to their small sides. U-bends may be included to connect such tubes into coils encompassing such fin bundles, the whole being secured between clamping plates with draw bolts. Several such coils may be arranged in parallel having fin bundles of height at least equal to the total width of the tubes in the coils. With several coils, distance plates may serve to limit the compression of the assembly by the draw bolts. |
