PURPOSE:A cosmetic that contains a wax which occurs in the fat components of safflower seeds having better gloss than whale wax, high stability to oxidation and good color and smell, thus showing good properties as a fat and oil component for cosmetics. CONSTITUTION:Safflower wax which is mainly composed of monoesters from higher fatty acids of 20 or more carbon atoms and higher saturated fatty alcohol, with more than 40wt% of monoester content. About 60% of higher fatty acids of the above-cited monoester are arachic acid of 20 carbon atoms and behenic acid of 22 carbon atoms, while 80% of the higher fatty alcohol are docosanol, tetracosanol, hexacosanol or octacosanol of 22, 24, 26 or 28 carbon atoms. EFFECT:It causes no skin irritation, the cosmetic containing the same increases its luster, extensibility over skins and gives good use feeling. Further, it has high melting point, thus the melting point of a stick cosmetic containing the same is raised up to increase its stability to temperature. |
