A process and a device for producing hearing-aid earpieces use a drill which is designed as a trepanning cutter (4). This trepanning cutter (4) has a cutting edge (7) whose diameter (d) is adapted to the diameter (D) of the recess (3) to be produced in the earpiece (1). This provides the advantage that the recess (3) in the earpiece (1) can be produced with a very smooth surface. There is also the advantage that the trepanning cutter (4) also resists a multiplicity of processing operations, since it is moved in a translatory manner and thus the rotary movements leading to excessive heating can be avoided. <IMAGE>
