Device for entering texts containing diacritic marks into a data processing system, with a keyboard which has keys for the individual characters, the basic characters and the non-independent marks, and with a visual display unit with lines of a specifically predetermined number of character cells, the data processing system likewise working with a specifically predetermined number of memory locations per line (logical line). A device displaying the number of diacritic marks per line is provided in order to prevent information being lost and not arriving in the memory when it is entered. <IMAGE>
