The electromagnetically actuated slide valve consists of a slide housing (1) and a slide piston (3) guided therein as well as an electromagnet releasably connected to the slide housing, the recesses (2) in the slide housing for the slide piston and for the armature (9) in the magnet housing (6) being in alignment with one another. The slide piston is supported with its end remote from the armature of the magnet on a spring (13) and in the de-energized state of the magnet lies with its other end against a fixed stop (17). The armature of the magnet is supported on a return spring (20) which attempts to push it away from the slide piston against a fixed stop (21). In the de-energized state of the magnet and when the armature is bearing against the fixed stop, a free gap (22) is provided between the slide piston and the armature. A striking action is thereby applied to the slide piston by the armature when the magnet is energized. <IMAGE>
