PURPOSE:To certainly enable printing up to a final line even when a new line pitch becomes large because a medium to be printed is a thin slip, by altering the time, until a page end signal is emitted after the lower end of the medium to be printed was detected by a sensor, corresponding to the length of the medium to be printed in the feed direction thereof. CONSTITUTION:If any medium to be printed, that is, a thick or thin slip is fed to the medium feed path between feed rollers 2, 3, the upper and lower ends of the medium are respectively detected by an upper end sensor UES and a page end sensor PES to apply printing to a predetermined line. In this printing apparatus, when the length of the medium in the moving direction thereof is equal to or less than a reference length, a page end signal is emitted at the point of time when the medium was sent by a definite step after the lower end of the medium was detected and, at the time of the reference length or more, a page end signal is issued at the point of time when the medium was sent by the step, wherein a predetermined correction step was added to a definite step, after the detection of the lower end to set a final printing line. |
