<p>A headlamp or other lamp of rectangular configuration for a motor vehicle has a plastics reflector (12) which includes two axially parallel, optically ineffective cut-away portions (22), which allow light, and hence radiant heat, from the incandescent bulb of the lamp to pass therethrough towards the surrounding housing (10). The lamp includes a bulb holder, which may be symmetrical relative to the horizontal central plane of the lamp, and which has two tongues (29) which shield the critical region of the two axially parallel portions of the housing which would otherwise be subjected to the radiant heat of the incandescent bulb passing through the cut-away portions (22). <IMAGE></p> |
