PURPOSE:To enable the available utilization of an ink ribbon, by providing the ink ribbon under tension so as to incline the same with respect to the moving route of a thermal head in the longitudinal direction of a platen. CONSTITUTION:In a thermal transfer serial printer, an ink ribbon 3 having a width T1 wider than the width T2 of a thermal head 2 is provided under tension so as to be inclined with respect to the moving route of the thermal head 2 in the longitudinal direction of a platen 1. By this mechanism, only by slightly moving the ink ribbon 3 after the printing of one line was performed, the printing of a separate line can be performed at the new area of the ink ribbon 3. |
