The unvulcanised sheet material is arranged so that opposite sides are mated together with a minimum of pressure and superimposed layers are cut through and the material then vulcanised. Pref. an unvulcanised waterproofing strip is laid along the edge of the unvulcanised bath cap material and the superimposed layers cut through with a heated tool along the edge and finally the bathing cap is vulcanised.
