PURPOSE:To prevent adhesion of byproducts mainly composed of hydrogen carbide to the surface of cathode by activating the cathode which the charged particles at the neck is deflected by magnetic field during the aging process of cathode-ray tube. CONSTITUTION:The aging of cathode ray tube is carried out by activating cathode substance of cathode 2 by applying the power to the heater 1, applying positive voltage to the cathode 2, ground voltage to the control electrode 3 and a positive voltage to the acceleration electrode 4. In this case, a magnet 10 which is magnetized in the axial direction and generates magnetic field 10a almost vertical to the cathode 2 is arranged between the cathode 2 and control electrode 3 and thereby deflection is carried out so that the ionized particles are isolated far from the center of cathode 2 when the residual gas CH4 collides with electrons emitted from th cathode 2. Therefore, adhesion to the cathode of byproducts mainly composed of the hydrogen carbide can be prevented and hot electron emission capability can be improved. |
