Process for the preparation of thixotropic gels of mixed oxalates, which applies more particularly to the preparation of a thixotropic gel of titanium barium double oxalate, consisting in preparing a concentrated solution of oxalic acid by dissolving in water which was ultrafiltered beforehand, at a temperature of the order of 40 DEG C, so that the solubility limit of oxalic acid at this temperature is reached, in preparing a solution of TiOCl2 and BaCl2 by dissolving in water which was ultrafiltered beforehand, in adding this solution to the concentrated solution of oxalic acid, in filtering, washing and drying the precipitate formed, and in suspending the latter in a small amount of water. The thixotropic gel of titanium barium double oxalate finds an application in the preparation of BaTiO3 powders.
