PURPOSE:To form for a short time, an image having a high density and a good storage stability by using a specific basic precursor releasing a basic component due to a rapid heat decomposition at a prescribed temperature. CONSTITUTION:As the basic precursor, a compd. having the formula [wherein X and Y are a hydrogen atom, an alkyl, an alkenyl, a halogen atom, an alkinyl, a cycloalkyl, an aryl, an aralkylhetrocyclic ring residue, -CO2H.B (B is <=C12 mono or di-acid base having >= Pka), R<1>N=CR<2>-(R<1> and R<2> are each hydrogen atom, alkyl and aryl group) and a hydroxyl group; X and Y may be the same or different group, but both X and Y can not be a hydrogen atom and a halogen atom; (n) and (m) is 1 or 2] is used. As the titled material contg. the basic precursou does not almost change a photographic performance e.g. the sensitivity in the max. and the min. densitites during the storage, the image having the high density and a less tendence for generating fog and a high S/N is obtd.
