1392347 Valves COMPAGNIE INDUSTRIELLE DES TELECOMMUNICATIONS CIT-ALCATEL 19 June 1972 [18 June 1971] 28549/72 Heading F2V The closure member 11 of a gas valve carries an annular seal ring 27 on one face thereof and an upstanding lug 25 on the other face thereof, the lug 25 being traversed by a spindle 26. One end of a rod 34 is coupled to the spindle 26 whilst its other end is coupled by way of a spindle 35 to a carriage 6 which is provided with four wheels 7-10. and which is movable by a piston and cylinder arrangement 13, 14, 15. Coupled to the spindle 26 are two further levers, the first of which, 36, is straight and has a roller 37 at its free end for engagement with an abutment 31 and the second of which, 38, is cranked and has a first roller 41 adapted to be selectively engaged with an abutment 30 and a second roller 40 adapted constantly to engage a cam 42 carried by the carriage 6. Springs 24 and 43 extend between the carriage 6 and the valve member 11, and between the carriage 6 and the cranked lever 38, respectively. In use of the valve, the engagement of rollers 41, 37 and 40 with, respectively, abutment 30, abutment 31 and cam 42, together with the nature and interengagement of the various links 34, 36, 38 and associated springs, serves to raise the valve member off its seat prior to the valve member being displaced laterally relative to the seat, and the converse occurs on closing the valve. The open and closed states of the valve are indicated by the operation of actuators 21 and 22, whilst a magnetic switch 23 controls the operation of an electrically operated highflow valve coupled to the cylinder 13, the actuators 21 and 22 and the switch 23 being actuated by carriage wheels.
