In a vacuum brake booster a pipe connection (8) is fixed on the housing shell (6) of the vacuum housing (1) for the purpose of fixing the master cylinder (7), through the longitudinal bore of which pipe connection extends the pushrod (5) of the booster acting on the piston of the master cylinder (7), the booster-side end of the master cylinder (7) with the longitudinal bore (13) being slipped over that part of the pipe connection (8) which projects outwards beyond the housing shell (6). The master cylinder (7) has a plurality of pins (11) arranged on the inner surface of its longitudinal bore (13) and extending radially inwards, which engage in transverse bores (17) in the pipe connection (8) and which together with longitudinal grooves (9, 9', 9'') provided on the outer surface of the pipe connection (8) and an annular groove (10) form a bayonet-type connection. The transverse bores (17) are so dimensioned that they form indentations (19) in the master cylinder-side flank of the annular groove (10), so that when the master cylinder (7) is acted upon the pins (11) are immovably held in the indentations (19) and prevent any opening of the bayonet connection. <IMAGE>
