A rotary closure for containers, in particular having liquid contents, comprises a part (102) which can be pressed or screwed onto the container and a part (104), which is held rotationally by the latter, with an outlet aperture arranged centrally relative to the mid-axis of the closure. The stationary part (102) has a central sealing mandrel which extends towards the outlet aperture and can be engaged by its sealing surfaces in a sealing manner with the outlet aperture upon axial movement of the rotary part (104). Interacting sinusoidal guide edges on the two closure parts convert the rotary movement of the rotary part (104) into an axial movement. A child-safeguard in the form of a pivoting tab (134) is provided on the rotary part and can be engaged in a recess (140) formed in the stationary part (102). In the engaged position, the tab (134) prevents axial movement of the rotary part (104) for the purpose of opening the outlet aperture. Furthermore, the closure can be provided with a tamper-proof safeguard. <IMAGE>
