Flat bar knitting machine - having profiled plates to guide movement of needle bed actuators

The mechanism includes pref. vertically movable actuator bars which actuate the two needle beds, of the machine and a pair of profiled plates adjacent the lower ends of the actuator bars, and which can be selectively positioned to limit downward movement of the actuator bars and thereby control needle bed actuation. Pref. each actuator bar has a rack and is raised and lowered by rotation of a gear wheel engaging the rack. One of the profiled plates is profiled to allow semi-actuation of the needle beds.
