A bubble brick for metallurgical ladles consists of a brick, provided with fine gas passage channels (2), of green refractory material and has a sheet metal shell (3) with a connection (7) for the gas, which shell extends over only a part of the height of the bubble brick (10) and is sealed at the upper edge by an angle (4) engaging in the brick (1). <IMAGE>
