PURPOSE:To provide a titled battery which prevents pitting, rupture, liquid leakage, etc. and extends the life thereof by polishing the copper layer or copper alloy layer on the surface of a negative electrode current collector with a chemical polishing agent consisting of hydrogen peroxide and org. acid or org. acid salt. CONSTITUTION:This alkali battery is provided with the negative current collecting body of which the copper layer or copper alloy layer on the surface is polished by the chemical polishing agent consisting of >=1 kinds of the hydrogen peroxide and org. acid as well as the org. acid salt. Said battery obviates the pitting by the polishing and is prevented from the rupture as a result of the generation of hydrogen by removing not only the oxide, oil and dust but also the metallic powder therefrom. In addition, the battery has no possibility of liquid leakage. >=1 Kinds of formic acid, oxalic acid, acetic acid, citric acid and gluconic acid are adequately used for the above-mentioned org. acid. The suitable pH of the above-mentioned chemical polishing agent is 3.0-5.0. There is the possibility of the pitting if the pH is <3.0 and the polishing speed decreases sharply when the pH exceeds 5.0. The intended purpose is not achieved in either case. |
