Under the influence of surges of turning moment which exceed the setting moment of the front jaw, the two spring elements 7 and 8 are twisted relative to one another, the roller bodies 11 rolling on tangential inclined surfaces 10, so that the turning moment increases in accordance with the predetermined spring force and the angle of inclination. The release lever 14 twists with the rototably mounted spring element 8, deflecting laterally the plate 20 connected thereto by positive fitting. The stressed sole holder 21 or 22 bears on the roller 25 or 26 until it tilts forward about its axis 23 or 24 and releases the ski boot in a friction-free manner. After the release of the boot, the plate 20 automatically returns to its initial position so that the front jaw and plate are again in the access-ready position. The front jaw and plate can be combined with a conventional automatic heel device which is fixedly screwed to the ski, or the automatic heel device is fixedly connected to the plate. <IMAGE>
