The invention relates to a device for the fixation of the fracture ends of a bone in a living body by means of a nail or a plate which is connected with the bone and has, for the purpose, bores for mounting connecting elements, a certain amount of elasticity being retained. It is the object of the invention to design a nail or a plate of the type mentioned at the outset in such a way that it has a biomechanically favourable form while at the same time cracking or tearing is prevented. The solution to this problem is characterised in that the wall of the nail or the plate has reinforcements extending axially along in each case one surface line on either side of the bores at least in the superficial region of the bores.
