The invention relates to a peroxide composition which is used in preparing a mould, by passing sulphur dioxide in the form of gas or as an aerosol through a mixture which is obtained by adding an acid-curing resin and an oxidising agent to a granular refractory additive, the peroxide composition comprising an aqueous ketone peroxide composition which contains a solvent/stabiliser which is uniformly prepared by emulsifying, dispersing and incipiently dissolving with a surface-active agent or by incipient dissolving with an incipient solvent. Examples of the ketone peroxide comprise those aliphatic ketones having 3 to 6 carbon atoms and those alicyclic ketones having 6 to 10 carbon atoms. An example of the composition has the following structure: 30 to 60% by weight of a ketone peroxide, 5 to 40% by weight of water, 10 to 40% by weight of a diluent/stabiliser and 5 to 40% by weight of an incipient solvent. n
