In the process for producing a box-shaped storage and transportation container, the exact position of the corner structures is predetermined and the side walls are pressed against said corner structures so that they abut the latter smoothly, with the result that the welding work on the longitudinal side of the corner structure can be executed using a welding robot. The equipment for carrying out the process comprises four holders for the corner structures, which define the exact positioning of said corner structures. Thrust bearings are also provided that hold the individual parts of the container together and accurately maintain them in their desired position, before the welding work is carried out.
