The invention relates to a gearing for a domestic appliance, such as a kitchen machine, driven by electric motor, having a belt drive which has two pulleys, a belt and a belt tensioning device fastened to a gearing housing with a tension pulley which acts on the belt. In this case, the object is to be achieved of providing a simple tensioning device of small construction. To achieve this object, it is proposed that the pulley (42) is mounted on an adjusting eccentric (36) which is held in a bearing eye (34) arranged on the gearing housing (6), the bearing eye (34) having an elastic material, being connected to the gearing housing (6) only via a partial region (50) of its circumference and having an interruption (56) in the other partial region of its circumference and, adjacent thereto, an inwardly projecting locking boss, and the locking boss (60) pressing with elastic prestress into engagement with locking teeth (66) formed on the circumferential surface of the adjusting eccentric (36). <IMAGE>
