The holding device (1) for drilling tools (2) has a vacuum suction plate (7). The latter is supported on the material (8) to be drilled while forming a vacuum chamber (19). The suction line (11) attached to a vacuum pump leads into the vacuum chamber (19). The valve (23) is allocated to the handle (21) of the vacuum suction plate (7). The slide (24) of the valve (23) has an actuating element (32) provided in the gripping area of the handle (21). When the actuating element (32) is actuated by hand, an atmospheric pressure balance is created in the vacuum chamber (19) in order to enable the holding device (1) to be accurately positioned.
