PURPOSE:A lubricant which is capable of preventing the shortening of the life of an electric contact point and is capable of allowing a sliding member on which no voltage is applied to slide smoothly, made by impregnating a member with 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol. CONSTITUTION:A member such as felt is impregnated with 2-methyl-2,4-pentanediol to give a lubricant 16. This lubricant 16 is, e.g., fixed with an adhesitve or by pressing to a spot near the sliding member of a commutator 3 on a bracket 14 placed in a motor housing 15, and the electric contact point or the sliding member on which no voltage is applied is kept in an atmosphere of 2-methyl- 2,4-pentanediol vapor. |
