PURPOSE:To adjust the damping force during a compression stroke and an extension stroke individually and widely by providing a select valve having multiple oil passages opened selectively and providing a check valve having orifices with different diameters and opened to the said oil passages. CONSTITUTION:During an extension stroke, the oil in an oil chamber at the upper section of a piston flows into an oil chamber at the lower section of the piston through an oil hole 2a, a small-diameter orifice 9a, for example, of a check valve 9, oil passages 8a, 8a', 12 and a rod end 3. In this case, a select valve 8 is rotated by an adjust rod 7 so that an oil passage 8b corresponding to a large- diameter orifice 9b is not communicated to an oil hole 2b. On the other hand, during a compression stroke, the oil in the oil chamber at the lower section of the piston passes through the oil hole 2b and oil passages 8b', 8b, pushes the check valve 9 open, and passes through the notched section 11a of a stopper 11. At this time, the adjusting width of a damping force is determined by the oil passages 8a', 8b' having different areas in the select valve 8. |
