In a package strapping machine, a plate type pivotal member is adapted to turn pivotally on a main shaft held on the base plate of the machine in parallel with the direction in which a strap is forwarded. Two clamps and a pressing device are mounted on a surface of the pivotal member and adapted to move up and down so as to be adapted to press the strap against the under surface of a lateral projection provided on the upper free end of the pivotal member. In cooperation with a sidepiece secured to the under surface of the top board of the machine, the pivotal member serves to prevent the strap from breadthwise deviation.
