A second shifting apparatus for shifting the chip type circuit elements from the pallets to the mounting head. The mounting head having circuit element gripping jaws for mechanically receiving and gripping said chip type circuit elements, so that the chip type circuit element supplied by said supply unit means is mechanically gripped until it is mounted on said printed circuit board.
