The invention concerns a towing device (1) for a vehicle, especially private vehicles, which involves a weight-bearing tow-bar (3) with a towing ball (2), and a cross-bar divided into two parts (4, 5) with a square cross-section, whereby each cross-bar section (4, 5), at its own end, retains a traction device (6, 7) for connection to the vehicle. The two parts of the cross-bar (4, 5) adjoining each other are joined to the tow-bar (3) via a removable clamping device (10), which has two clamp units (11, 12). One clamp unit (11) is rigidly connected to the tow-bar (3), and is designed so that it connects with the underside of the cross-bar parts (4, 5) and with the sides of the cross-bar parts (4, 5) facing towards the towing ball (2). The other clamp unit (12) is adjustable and joined to the clamp unit (11) via a connector (17, 18) on the exterior of the cross-bar parts (4, 5), and it is so designed that it lies against the cross-bars' parts (4, 5) square cross-section which is unaffected by the permanent clamp unit (11)<IMAGE> |
