PURPOSE:To use a cam shaft in common and provide a compact and light cam shaft driving device by providing a crankshaft interlocked with an idler shaft while having the cam shaft of both cylinders interlocked respectively with the crankshaft or cam shaft. CONSTITUTION:A V-type engine, for example, double overhead cam type one, is provided on cylinder heads of both side cylinders with respective cam shafts 1 for an intake valve and an exhaust valve. Then, a drive gear 3 is fixed to a crankshaft 2 and meshes with a driven gear 5 fixed to an idler shaft 4 to rotate the idler shaft 4 with equal speed and opposite direction to the crankshaft 2. Also, the cam shaft 1 for one cylinder is interlocked with the crankshaft 2 through a belt 6a and the cam shaft 1 for the other cylinder is interlocked with the idler shaft 4 through a belt 6b. And tensioners 7a, 7b are pressed against the non-tension sides of the respective belts 6a, 6b. |
