The urine receptacle (1) has an opening (2), a handgrip (8) and an electrode holder (4). The urine is drawn out of the receptacle via a flexible tube (5) into an air-tight tank (6), by a vacuum pump (V). The vacuum pump switches on when the patient operates the switch (SW) on the handgrip, and there is sufficient urine between the electrodes to allow a small current to flow to and from the control box (C). When the switch is released, or the urine flow is insufficient, a fixed time elapses before the relay (T) switches off the pump. During the delay time air is drawn through an air-hole (3) to clear the drops of urine out of the electrode holder and pipe. |
