Alkali metal salts of organic diamines are prepd. by reacting the metal with molar excess of the diamine (I) in the presence of a transition metal cpd. (II) catalyst at between 20 deg.C and the reflux temp. of the reaction mixt. (Salts first reported: J. Org. Chem., 23, 1136 (1958)). The alkali metal is Na or K and (I) is ethylenediamine or 1,3-diaminopropane. (II) is a Mn, Co, Ni, Cu, Pt or esp. Fe or Pd. cpd.
|
