Dentrifrice compsn. contains: (a) a Zr-bonded synthetic amorphous silicate (I) (zirconosilicate) as abrasive; and (b) a vehicle comprising H2O, humectant and flavour. (I) has Zr content 0.1-10 % by wt. (as ZrO2) based on SiO2. - Pref. compsns. have (I) with Zr content 0.2-2 % by wt. (as ZrO2) based on SiO2, refractive index 1.4-1.47, specific surface area less than 800 m2/g, specific gravity 1.9-2.3, and liq. absorption 0.4-2 ml/g.
