Iodinated contrast agent for X=rays

摘要

The cpd. of formula (I) is made by (a) acetylation of 2,4,6-tri-iodo 5-amino isophthalic acid by treatment with acetic anhydride in sulphuric acid; (b) reaction with thionyl chloride and then with 3-amino 1,2-propanediol in basic medium; and (c) treatment with epichlorohydrin. The cpd. formed is isolated and purified by absorption techniques with silanised silica gel supports.
