PURPOSE:To improve the yield of a non-defective product by disposing many electromagnetic stirrers continuously over the entire region from a casting mold to pinch rolls and operating the respective electromagnetic stirrers in the regions from the casting mold up to the final solidification position while detecting the final solidification position of the billet. CONSTITUTION:The many electromagnetic stirrers 51-5n are continuously arranged along the passage of the billet 2 over the entire region from the casting mold 1 to the position of the pinch rolls 6. The stirrers 51-5i from the mold 1 to the position of the final solidification position of the unsolidified molten metal in the billet 2, i.e., a crater end 4 are operated out of all the stirrers 51-5n while said end 4 is detected in the stage of continuous casting. |
