PURPOSE:To reduce the apparent density by using a string material mainly composed of slag wool in an annular friction material formed by an annular friction base material and a matrix member. CONSTITUTION:Slag wool and organic fiber are subjected to kneading and curding, and then woven into a string. Further the string is impregnated in a matrix member such as thermosetting resin wax, rubber or the like, rolled, formed by heat and then subjected to heat treatment. A continuous string material is rolled spirally similarly to a spiral type friction material. Thus, only the apparent density can be reduced with the bursting strength and the other various characteristics kept same as the conventional friction material. |
