The method consists in causing rows of oysters to travel down an integral series of parallel gutters, the movement along the gutters being caused by low-amplitude reciprocating movements of the gutters in their plane, and in then collecting the oysters on a corrugated support moving translationally underneath the gutters, the troughs of the corrugations of the support being in line with the gutters. The machine comprises a corrugated plate 1 in which the troughs of the corrugations form adjacent gutters, driving means 2 for imparting reciprocating movements to the plate 1 in its plane, and means for moving a corrugated support 8 underneath the lower edge 7 of the plate 1. <IMAGE>
