Catalyst based on vermiculite of high specific surface and its application to the improvement of the behaviour of petroleum cuts when cold

Catalyst based on vermiculite, of high specific surface, diluted in a matrix. The SiO2/Al2O3 molar ratio in the vermiculite is higher than or equal to 12, its specific surface is between 200 and 800 m<2> g<-1> and this vermiculite represents at least 20 % by weight in relation to the support (calculated on dry basis). The catalyst contains at least one metal or compound of metal of group VIII and optionally at least one oxide of a metal of group VI, for example nickel and molybdenum. The catalyst is employed especially as a hydrotreatment catalyst for improving the behaviour when cold and the hydrodesulphurisation of a gas oil.
