PURPOSE:To obtain stable optical coupling efficiency at all times even when a foreign matter interposes between a package and a heat-dissipating substrate and flatness lowers by forming a stress interrupting section to a sub-mount for the bottom of the package and a fixing section for an optical fiber and preventing the working of external force to the deformation of the package. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber 4 penetrates the side section 3b of a package 3, and is fixed by an optical-fiber tip fixing section 5 so that the tip side faces the projecting surface of a laser diode 1. The optical-fiber tip fixing section 5 is fastened to the bottom 3a of the package 3. Groove sections 6 are formed near a sub-mount 2 for the bottom 3a of the package 3 and the periphery of the optical-fiber tip fixing section 5 as stress interrupting sections in at least opposite two directions. When the package 3 is set to a heat-dissipating substrate 9 by clamp screws 8, the bottom 3a of the package 3 often receives bending deformation by clamping. However, the groove sections 6 are deformed preferentially and stress is interrupted in the sections in the bending deformation, and the bottom of the package in sections where the sub-mount 2 and the optical- fiber tip fixing section 5 are joined is not deformed. |
