PURPOSE:To measure the distance to a regular subject by storing signals of two television cameras in image memories of two systems in blocks, and expanding one block and discriminating between a couple of blocks, and using the expansion ratio as parallax. CONSTITUTION:The telecameras 1 and 1' installed at a front and a rear different position generate video signals of a subject on a vehicle running path, and their data are stored by one screen in RAMs 3 and 3' having two-dimensional address space through A/D converters 2 and 2'; and a block couple discriminating means 11, distance arithmetic means 12, and speed arithmetic means 13 are composed of a ROM5, RAM6, CPU7, etc. Then, the data in the RAMs 3 and 3' are fractionized by the means 11 and inputted in the RAM6, and the data of the same system are compared in address order to put coincident data in the same block. Further, one of two images between a couple of blocks and the expansion ratio is used as parallax to calculate the distance to the subject. |
