The axle (1) carries the chain drive (5) to the pedals on one side and the motor on the other side. The centre of the hub has an encased brake drum (6) with internal brake mechanism (7). The motor is slung below the centre of the axle for stability. The motor has a single piston and a reduction gearing. It is operated by a centrifugal clutch and the reaction force is braced on the vehicle frame by a thrust arm.
