The subject of the present invention is a machine for harvesting vegetables from plants, characterised in that it comprises in combination: - a cutting blade 2 located at the front end of the machine for cutting the plants at the base of the stalks; - means 5 for controlling the level of said blade 2; - a conveyor 7 inclined from the bottom upwards and from the front rearwards in relation to the direction of movement of the machine and comprising fingers 7e orthogonal to its band, said fingers being displaced in the vicinity of the ground at the rear of said cutting blade 2 in order to raise the cut plants 25 towards the upper part of the machine; - a conveyor 10/11 for taking up the cut plants, at least one band of which winds round the head pulley 7a of said inclined conveyor 7, said take-up conveyor extending towards the rear of the machine and at the rear of said conveyor 7, and the carrying strand 7c of which is displaced from the front rearwards in relation to the direction of movement of the machine; - and, above said take-up conveyor 10/11, another conveyor 17, called a "blocking conveyor", of which the strand of the band located on the same side as said take-up conveyor 10/11 is placed in the vicinity of the latter, so as to insert together the harvested plants 25 which are suspended on said conveyors, said strand being displaced in the same direction as the carrying strand of the take-up conveyor 10/11, and in that the take-up conveyor 10/11 and the blocking conveyor 17 are subjected to the action of a shaking member 18 for shaking the plants and causing the separation of the vegetables and stalks. <IMAGE>
